PEP-009 is a 16 amino acid (amino acids 12-27) synthetic peptide whose sequence is from the amino-terminal end of the rat calcium-sensing receptor protein. The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): A-L-A-W-H-S-S-A-Y-G-P-D-Q-R-A-Q
This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product and the calcium-sensing receptor, catalog # PA1-934A. Using a solution with equal weights per unit volume of peptide and corresponding antibody will yield a solution with a large molar excess of peptide that is able to competitively bind the antibody.
Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
Senses changes in the extracellular concentration of calcium ions. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G- protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
