Kasugamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that is commonly used in agriculture to control bacterial plant diseases caused by pathogens such as Xanthomonas oryzae and Erwinia amylovora. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria, ultimately leading to their death. Kasugamycin is also used in clinical settings to treat bacterial infections, particularly those caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
