Description: The RL73 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD147, also known as Basigin. CD147 is expressed by a majority of thymocytes, activated peripheral T cells, erythrocytes and erythroblasts. It has been reported that CD147 expression correlates with cycling of immature thymocytes even in the absence of TCRbeta selection and that ligation of this molecule on immature fetal thymocytes inhibits their further development into mature T cells.
Applications Reported: The RL73 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: This RL73 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse thymocyte cells. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.125 µg per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
Excitation: 488-561 nm; Emission: 578 nm; Laser: Blue Laser, Green Laser, Yellow-Green Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
CD147 (basigin, neurothelin, OX-47, 5A11, CE9, M6, EMMPRIN, extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer, TCSF, tumour cell-derived collagenase-stimulatory factor) is a 50-60 kDa glycoprotein with multiple glycosylated forms. CD147 is a plasma membrane protein that is important in spermatogenesis, embryo implantation, neural network formation, and tumor progression. CD147 is also a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The highest level of CD147 expression is on metabolically active cells, such as lymphoblasts, inflammatory cells, brown adipocytes and malignant tumor cells. CD147 has multiple functions, including facilitating of cell surface expression of monocarboxylate transporter proteins and extracellular matrix metalloproteinases, regulation of integrin functions, it plays roles in cell development and activation, fetal development or retinal function.
