Description: The 113-16 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD70, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF superfamily of proteins. CD70 is expressed weakly on macrophages and strongly on activated T, B, NK, and dendritic cells. Expression of CD70 can also be induced on smooth muscle and endothelial cells during inflammation. A ligand of CD27, CD70 plays a role in B cell growth and differentiation into plasma cells. Moreover, this receptor mediates Ig secretion of B cells by plasmacytoid DC. CD70 also plays a role in T cell proliferation and activation, as well as NK cell cytotoxicity. Studies have also shown that CD70 plays a role in regulating Th17 cells. In activated dendritic cells, CD70 helps activate CD8+ T cells and influences their development into memory T cells.
The 113-16 antibody has been reported to have antagonist activity.
Applications Reported: This 113-16 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: This 113-16 antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells. This can be used at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for TNFRSF27/CD27. It is a surface antigen on activated, but not on resting, T and B lymphocytes. It induces proliferation of costimulated T cells, enhances the generation of cytolytic T cells, and contributes to T cell activation. This cytokine is also reported to play a role in regulating B-cell activation, cytotoxic function of natural killer cells, and immunoglobulin synthesis.
