CSI 007-01-02 is highly specific for type III collagen. It has been shown to have no cross-reactivity with type I and V collagens by ELISA and immunoblotting. There is no evidence for cross-reactivity with other connective tissue proteins (laminin, fibronectin, elastin). CSI 007-01-02 shows reactivity with human, dog, rat and kangaroo in type III collagens by ELISA and immunoblotting. The antibody does not show reactivity with calf and sheep type III collagen by ELISA and immunoblotting.
CSI 007-01-02 has been successfully used in Western blotting, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry (frozen) procedures. CSI 007-01 has been used successfully for immunohistology on frozen unfixed sections of human and kangaroo skin, and of new dog tissue associated with biomaterial implants. If fixation of tissue is required, acetone or ethanol is recommended.
The specificity of the CSI 007-01-02 epitope is located approximately 100 nm from the N-terminal of the molecule.
NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mL
Collagen III is a fibrillar collagen that is found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, and the vascular system, frequently in association with type I Collagen. Mutations in th gene are associated with Ehlers Danlos syndrome type IV, and with aortic and arterial aneurysms. Although alternate transcripts have been detected for this gene, they are the result of mutations; these mutations alter splicing, often leading to the exclusion of multiple exons.
