Invitrogen
In Western blot, this antibody detects a band at ~28kDa under reducing conditions. A strong band of 80kDa representing glycosylated FeLV gag gene product may also be present.
Mouse anti Feline Leukaemia Virus p27 antibody, clone PF12J-10A recognizes feline leukaemia virus (FeLV) p27 core protein (p27). The oncoretrovirus FeLV is responsible for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions, often resulting in a poor prognosis and fatal outcome for cats persistently infected.
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus that infects cats. As a retrovirus, FeLV is transmitted as an RNA virus but the RNA is reverse transcribed into DNA. Retroviruses contradict the Central dogma of molecular biology. FeLV is usually transmitted between infected cats when the transfer of saliva or nasal secretions is involved. If not defeated by the animal’s immune system, the virus can be lethal. The disease caused by this virus is a form of cancer of blood cells called lymphocytes (a leukemia).
