Description: The monoclonal antibody 20C2 reacts with heterodimeric form of IL-12 called p70 (sometimes called p75). The two covalently linked subunits that comprise IL-12 are p35 and p40 with a combined relative mass of 75 kDa protein. IL-12 is secreted primarily by activated monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. IL-12 can induced IFN gamma production and plays a key role in the development of Th responses. This 20C2 antibody has been reported to have neutralizing activity of the intact IL-12p70 complex (but not the individual subunits).
Applications Reported: This 20C2 antibody has been reported for use in western blotting, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, and ELISA. It has also been reported in blocking IL-12 receptor binding and biologic activity in fucntional assays.
Storage and handling: Use in a sterile environment.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin Level: Less than 0.001 ng/µg antibody, as determined by LAL assay.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC.
IL-12 p70, also known as interleukin-12, is a cytokine that plays a critical role in the immune system's response to infections and cancer. It is produced by immune cells, including dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells, in response to certain pathogens and tumor cells. IL-12 p70 stimulates the production of interferon-gamma and other cytokines, which promote the activation and proliferation of T cells and natural killer cells. IL-12 p70 has been studied as a potential therapeutic target for various diseases and conditions, including infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, and cancer. It has been shown to enhance immune responses against certain infections and tumors, and to modulate inflammatory responses in autoimmune diseases.
