Detection of human and mouse INPPL2/SHIP2 by western blot. Samples: Whole cell lysate (50, 15, 5 µg) from HeLa and (50 µg) from 293T and mouse NIH3T3 cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibody: Affinity purified rabbit anti-INPPL2/SHIP2 antibody A300-574A-M (lot A300-574A-M-2) used for WB at 1:1000. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

The protein encoded by this gene is an SH2-containing 5'-inositol phosphatase that is involved in the regulation of insulin function. The encoded protein also plays a role in the regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor turnover and actin remodeling. Additionally, this gene supports metastatic growth in breast cancer and is a valuable biomarker for breast cancer.
