In direct ELISAs, approximately 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) LIR-4/ILT6 is observed, and approximately 10% cross-reactivity with rhILT5, rhLIR-5/ILT3, rhLIR-6, and rhLILRA5 is observed, and less than 5% cross-reactivity with rhILT2, rhILT4, and rhLIR-7 is observed.

This gene is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-likereceptor (LIR) family, which is found in a gene cluster atchromosomal region 19q13.4. The encoded protein belongs to thesubfamily B class of LIR receptors which contain two or fourextracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, andtwo to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitorymotifs (ITIMs). Several other LIR subfamily B receptors areexpressed on immune cells where they bind to MHC class I moleculeson antigen-presenting cells and inhibit stimulation of an immuneresponse. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoformshave been found for this gene.
