Reconstituted by adding 1 mL sterile distilled water, spun down to remove insoluble particles, divided into small aliquots, frozen and stored at or below -20°C.
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to Serum proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. The degree of cross-reactivity is also dependent of the concentRation of the reactants and he sensitivity of the method. This product may also react with free and bound secretory component in many old-world Monkeys, including Macaca Sylvanus, Cercopithecus, Cynomolgus, Baboon, and also with the secretory component of Chimpanzees. In double radial immunodiffusion a reaction has been observed with free Human secretory component.
Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the immunoconjugate. Diluted antiserum should be stored at 4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day.
Secretory Component is an epithelial transport receptor for polymeric IgA and IgM. Antibodies to secretory component have been shown to be useful for identifying glandular carcinomas.
