Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to mammalian Serum proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. The degree of cross-reactivity is also dependent on the concentRations of the reactants and the sensitivity of the assay arrangement. This antiSerum fraction has been tested for cross-reactivity by double radial immunodiffusion anti several species sera with the following results:, , Bovine - Goat - Human + Rabbit ± Chicken - Guinea Pig ++ Mouse ++ Sheep - Dog + Horse + Monkey + Swine +, , A negative reaction in double radial immunodiffusion does not exclude a weak positive reaction in more sensitive techniques.
Target Information
Albumin is a soluble protein which constitutes approximately 50% of blood serum protein, and acts as a regulator of blood colloidal osmotic pressure and blood volume. Albumin is also an important transporter of substances within the bloodstream, such as fatty acids, thyroid hormones, metal ions and steroids.
