SLC6A4 Antibody (PA5-18374) in ICC/IF
Immunocytochemical analysis of SLC6A4 in HepG2 cells using a SLC6A4 polyclonal antibody (Product #PA5-18374). HepG2 cells were permeabilized with 0.15% Triton. Cells were incubated with 10 µg/mL of primary antibody for one hour followed by an Alexa Fluor 488 secondary antibody at a concentration of 2 µg/mL. Vesicle staining is shown in the image. The nuclear stain is DAPI (blue). Negative control: Unimmunized goat IgG (10 µg/mL) followed by an Alexa Fluor 488 secondary antibody (2 µg/mL).

Target Information
SERT is an integral membrane protein that transports the neurotransmitter serotonin from synaptic spaces into presynaptic neurons. The encoded protein terminates the action of serotonin and recycles it in a sodium-dependent manner. This protein is a target of psychomotor stimulants, such as amphetamines and cocaine, and is a member of the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter family. A repeat length polymorphism in the promoter of this gene has been shown to affect the rate of serotonin uptake and may play a role in sudden infant death syndrome, aggressive behavior in Alzheimer disease patients, and depression-susceptibility in people experiencing emotional trauma.
