This affinity purified antibody is directed against the VSV-G epitope tag and is useful in determining its presence in over expressed proteins in various assays. The antibody recognizes the VSV-G epitope tag (Tyr-Thr-Asp-Ile-Glu-Met-Asn-Arg-Leu-Gly-Lys) fused to either the amino- or carboxy- termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), an enveloped RNA virus from the Rhabdoviridae family, is released from the plasma membrane of host cells by a process called budding. The glycoprotein (VSV G) contains a domain in its extracellular membrane-proximal stem that appears to be needed for efficient VSV budding: Sequence: YTDIEMNRLGK.
