Software Update (Rev 1.7.2401.174)
Announcing EVOS M5000 Software Revision 1.7.2401.174
Revision 1.7.2401.174 provides support for a new co-axially controlled manual stage with position encoders allowing stage tracking in real time, and the ability to mark/revisit stage locations.
The user interface has also been re-organized with workflow improvements and bugfixes for all existing EVOS M5000 customers.
Review the Installation Instructions below before updating your software.
New features
Stage View (requires the new EVOS M5000 manual stage released in June of 2024)
- Monitors the position of the stage relative to the objective and shows where the microscope is viewing the sample as you’re working with it. If a well plate is being used the well ID is shown and automatically recorded in the saved filename.
- Marking and revisiting locations in the same imaging session: provides the ability to mark multiple “pins” and return to them in the same imaging session.
- Marking and revisiting locations across different imaging sessions: provides the ability to save “maps” of their marked pins, manage these maps (rename, edit, delete, etc.), and return to saved pin locations by reloading maps in a subsequent imaging session (e.g., days, weeks or months after creating a map).
- Saving images captured from microtiter plates automatically appends the well ID to the image filename.
UI enhancements, workflow improvements, enhanced functionality (all EVOS M5000 instruments)
- Enlarged and clarified the objective magnification and condenser information.
- Image thumbnails have been relocated near channel selection; also fixes/enables the ability to autocapture the transmitted light channel when 4 light cubes are installed.
- Simple/Actual labels have been changed to icons.
- Clear Z Offsets button has been added, allowing customers to re-set all Z-offsets to the current Z position.
- Single Autofocus button rather than Coarse and Fine (uses the Coarse algorithm).
- Capture button now operates as Capture 1 (capture current channel) or Capture All (capture all active channels).
- Quick Save settings options have been simplified and clarified.
- Quick Save starting number resets to 1 when the base filename has been edited.
- Free disk space is now reported in the Quick Save panel.
- The Stage View tab only appears when a new encoder-equipped stage is present; with older stages the Stage View tab isn’t shown.
- Settings options have been streamlined and simplified.
- Light cube information now indicates whether Gen1 or Gen2 light cubes are present.
- Added support for 6 Olympus semi-apochromat objectives and one Olympus 4x fluorite phase objective.
- Added keyboard shortcuts for turning on/off illumination, selecting the illumination channel, turning on Autofocus, capturing the current channel, capturing all selected channels, and saving the image via the currently-selected save mode.
Security, legal, bugfixes
- Windows Defender is now active by default and other security hardening settings have been deployed to improve system security.
- A EULA has been provided with terms of service and all 3rd-party licensing information.
- Bugfix where using the virtual keyboard to enter a filename in Quick Save closed the keyboard panel after each virtual key was pressed.
- Bugfix where selecting a channel/going into live mode did not auto-select the channel via its checkbox.
- Bugfix where saving an image with a scalebar could occasionally result in erratic placement or duplicate scalebars in the saved image.
- Bugfix where several light cubes weren’t being recognized by the software (Tag BFP, QDot Universal, CFP-YFP, AO).
- Bugfix where, for the OSI-2 incubator, the software activation of the CO2 and N2 ports was reversed.
- Bugfix where transmitted light illumination wasn’t activated during objective calibration.
