The global prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases (STIs) is over 1 million cases acquired every day, most of which are asymptomatic. There are approximately 374 million new infections each year, including three of the most common curable STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis.* These three STIs, as well as mycoplasma genitalium, can lead to complications including cervicitis, urethritis, preterm labor, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), and can increase the risk of contracting HIV. Thus, the detection and research of common prevalent STIs is of critical importance for clinical research to understand outbreaks and disease etiology.

The Applied Biosystems TrueMark STI Select Panel employs real-time PCR technology, offering an end-to-end workflow for the detection of common sexually transmitted infections by utilizing the power of Applied Biosystems QuantStudio real-time PCR systems.**

The TrueMark STI Select Panel includes multiplexed assays in a single-tube format to detect chlamydia trachomatis, neisseria gonorrhoeae, mycoplasma genitalium, and trichomonas vaginalis, as well as RNase P as an internal process control in the same reaction. Utilizing a QuantStudio system enables rapid, accurate detection and categorization of microorganisms that cause these common sexually transmitted diseases.
