Meet new EUCAST guidelines for AST of anaerobes

The European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) has recently introduced new guidelines for performing AST of selected rapidly growing anaerobes via disc diffusion methodology on Fastidious Anaerobe Agar (FAA). Liofilchem Fastidious Anaerobe Agar with Horse Blood (FAA-HB) is a ready-to-use agar plate for the cultivation and AST of anaerobic bacteria. This medium is recommended by EUCAST for disc diffusion of selected rapidly growing anaerobic bacteria, including Bacteroides spp., Prevotella spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Clostridium perfringens and Cutibacterium acnes.2

Webinar: 2022 Technical Updates on EUCAST Guidelines

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Sören Gatermann, ESCMID Fellow, Clinical Microbiologist, Chairman of the German NAC, Member of the EUCAST Steering Committee, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany

This webinar addresses changes to the EUCAST breakpoint tables, valid from January 2022 (v12.0) with a focus on:

  • Use handling of bracketed breakpoints
  • Disk testing of anaerobic bacteria
  • Dosing and breakpoints
  • How to deal with situations when there are no breakpoints
