The Multispecies Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) ELISA quantitates LTB4 in human saliva, urine, porcine plasma and tissue culture medium.
Principle of the method
This LTB4 competitive ELISA kit is an immunoassay for the quantitative determination of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) in biological fluids. The assay is based on the competition between LTB4 in the standard or sample and alkaline phosphatase conjugated LTB4 (LTB4-AP) for a limited amount of LTB4 monoclonal antibody bound to an anti-Rabbit IgG precoated 96-well plate. As the concentration of LTB4 in the sample increases, the amount of LTB4-AP captured by the coating antibody decreases. Thus, there is an inverse relationship between optical density (OD) and the amount of analyte in the sample.
Rigorous validation
Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.
Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) is a leukotriene involved in inflammation. It is produced from leukocytes in response to inflammatory mediators and is able to induce the adhesion and activation of leukocytes on the endothelium, allowing them to bind and cross into the tissue. In neutrophils, LTB4 is a potent chemoattractant, and is able to induce the formation of reactive oxygen species and the release of lysosomal enzymes.
