Molecular Biology and Genetics. Back to Basics Series, Episode 1

Molecular Biology and Genetics, Episode 1

This is first episode of our foundational series, Back to Basics. This episode briefly summarizes fundamental knowledge supporting the study of HLA. We will cover essential points regarding inheritance, evolution, and dynamic change in populations. Then, we will summarize the processes that lead from gene to protein on a molecular level, and the varieties and outcomes of possible mutations.

Key takeaways:

  • How genetic information is passed down through families

  • Definitions of important genetic terms

  • Variations in how genes are expressed
