In the production of lithium-ion battery electrodes, the mixing of the anode and cathode pastes is a crucial step and has a significant influence on battery performance. In classic wet processing with planetary mixers and slot die coaters, large quantities of solvents are used in the electrode pastes, which have to be removed from the coated electrodes at great energy expense. Twin screw extrusion is an alternative mixing method that not only improves the quality of the electrode pastes, but also enables solvent-free processing of electrodes. In this webcast you will learn how the use of laboratory extruders can help in the transformation from wet processing to dry processing and which process parameters need to be considered.
