Invitrogen
FIGURE: 1 / 4
Description: This BK-1/39 monoclonal antibody reacts with biotin, a B-complex vitamin. As a coenzyme, biotin is involved in the metabolism of fatty acids, amino acids, and gluconeogenesis. In the laboratory, biotin is used to tag molecules of interest for biochemical or cell biological studies. This monoclonal antibody can be used to detect biotinylated proteins and antibodies, particularly if signal amplification is desired.
Applications Reported: This BK-1/39 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: This BK-1/39 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells stained with a biotin-conjugated antibody. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.25 µg per test. A test is defined as the amount (µg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 519 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Biotin is a water-soluble B complex vitamin, generally classified as Vitamin B7. It is required by all organisms and can only be synthesized by bacteria, yeasts, molds, algae, and some plant species. Biotin is required for incorporation of carbon dioxide into organic compounds and exhibits a MW of ~244 Da.
