Reconstitution: We recommend that the vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. This lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. Further dilutions should be made in tissue culture grade buffered solutions with heat inactivated fetal calf serum or low endotoxin BSA.
Storage: Lyophilized human SDF-1 alpha should be stored at 2°C to 8°C, preferably desiccated. Store reconstituted human SDF-1 alpha at < -20°C (not in a frost-free freezer). Keep freeze-thaw cycles to a minimum.
CXCL12 is a stromal cell-derived alpha chemokine member of the intercrine family. This gene product and its receptor CXCR4 can activate lymphocytes and have been implicated in the metastasis of some cancers such as breast cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with resistance to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infections. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
