Recent strides in Mass Spectrometry (MS) hardware technology have resulted in unprecedented depth and throughput, where the MS analysis is no longer the rate limiting step in a sample-to-knowledge workflow. This richer level of information and increased throughput enables much needed, large-scale studies but presents researchers with new challenges in data management. The current practice of using portable storage devices leads to data silos where raw files, processing results, and biological interpretations are scattered in multiple locations and hard to find, jeopardizing researcher’s productivity.
We will discuss the connected MS lab, a modern way to manage, automate, process, and share MS data, while maintaining study design, so that sample information for both raw files and processing results are stored and backed-up centrally and securely, accelerating time to insights and improving productivity.

Anas obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde with thesis focusing on developing analytical and bioinformatics schemes for metabolomics analysis. He continued his research in clinical metabolomics with postdoctoral positions at Imperial College London and Karolinksa Institute, Sweden before joining Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2015.
