Chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) assays using our FAST CAT® Yellow (deoxy) Chloramphenicol Acetyltransferase Assay Kit (Cat. No. F6617). Decreasing amounts of purified CAT enzyme (two-fold dilutions) were incubated with the corresponding deoxy substrate in the presence of acetyl CoA; the reaction mixture was then separated with standard thin-layer chromatography (TLC) methods and visualized with 366 nm epi-illumination. The bottom row of fluorescent spots in each TLC represents the substrate; the top, the monoacetylated reaction product.
