Reliable and simple PCR-based testing to help diagnose infections

Hepatitis is defined as inflammation of the liver and can be caused by infectious viruses. Viral hepatitis can be caused by the hepatitis A, B, C, D and E virus (HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV and HEV, respectively), but only HBV and HCV can develop into chronic infections (1).  Individuals with chronic HBV or HCV infection may have increased risk of complications, such as liver cirrhosis and cancer (1). Globally, over 350 million people are living with chronic HBV or HCV infection and the viruses cause over 1 million death per year (1,2). Accurate and reliable diagnosis of the virus is important to guide patient management (3,4).

The CE-marked Applied Biosystems TaqPath™ Menu Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus PCR Kits are designed to deliver reliable qualitative and quantitative diagnostic results with excellent sensitivity and specificity. This offers confidence in diagnostic and treatment decisions and can help mitigate the spread of these infections.
