A transverse section through adult zebrafish retina that has been probed with anti–glial fibrillary acidic protein antibody (anti-GFAP antibody, Cat. no. A21282) and then developed for visualization with alkaline phosphatase–mediated techniques using our ELF® 97 Immunohistochemistry Kit (Cat. no. E6600). This kit's ELF® 97 phosphatase substrate yields an extremely photostable yellow-green signal at the site of anti-GFAP binding, clearly showing that this antibody binds to Müller cells in the zebrafish retina. The retinal section has been counterstained with Hoechst 33342 (Cat. no. H1399, H3570, H21492), which stains all nuclei blue, and with tetramethylrhodamine wheat germ agglutinin (Cat. no. W849), which stains both the inner and outer plexiform layers as well as the photoreceptor outer segments red.
