DISP2, also known as dispatched homolog 2, is a protein that plays a critical role in the regulation of the hedgehog signaling pathway. It is involved in the transport and release of hedgehog ligands, which are important for cellular differentiation and tissue development. Mutations in the DISP2 gene have been associated with various developmental disorders, including holoprosencephaly and cleft lip and palate. DISP2 is also being studied as a potential therapeutic target in cancer, as the hedgehog pathway is frequently dysregulated in various types of tumors
