Seminar: Microplate Detection Technologies

How to choose the detection technology best suited for your assays

Microplate detection technology has evolved over the past 65 years to create an indispensable piece of equipment used in many labs today. Nowadays, the availability of a plethora of reagent kits enables the exploitation of a microplate reader in different fields and for many diverse applications, including biological, biochemical and pharmaceutical research, both in academic and industrial sectors, as well as in environmental research and  the food industry.

The most important criterion in microplate detection is the sensitivity of the technology, with the highest sensitivity allowing you to read very low signal intensities and to have a better resolution of signals within your assay window. Other criteria which dictate the selection of a microplate reader include throughput and flexibility as well as ease of use and optimisation functions.

Our in-house microplate instrumentation experts, Garry Bloomfield, Applications Specialist, and Zainab Kadhim, Technical Specialist, discuss microplate detection technologies and what factors to keep in mind when deciding on the microplate reader best suited for your assays.

The seminar covers the following topics:

  • The different detection technologies and their unique benefits
  • Common applications for the technologies
  • Features to consider when purchasing a microplate reader
