Passive samplers

HydraSleeve samplers

The HydraSleeve™ sampler is used in place of purging and low-flow sampling methods in groundwater monitoring wells to obtain representative, real-time, discrete interval sample of all compounds under natural groundwater flow conditions. The HydraSleeve sampler is effective for sampling slow recharge wells, for monitoring interfaces, and for concentration profiling.

Passive diffusion samplers

Passive diffusion samplers are semi-permeable polyethylene membranes filled with deionised water. They are used in place of purging and low-flow sampling methods in groundwater monitoring to obtain representative, discrete interval samples of VOCs under natural groundwater flow conditions via diffusion. Sample VOCs that are:

  • Non-polar molecules
  • Not highly soluble
  • Chlorinated solvents, fuel products, etc...

Sampling consumables

We supply a range of disposable sampling consumables, made from a variety of materials to suit many sampling applications.

 

Bailers

The bailer is useful as a sample collection device if the well is first purged using a less disturbing method (e.g. portable pump), when there is very little stagnant water to be removed prior to sample collection.

Filters

There are two methods of onsite filtering: filtration during and filtration after sampling.

 

Filtration after sampling

Filtration after sampling is done once the sample has been taken. Pressure or vacuum is applied to the sample, drawing it through a filter membrane. This can be done with a syringe and filters or with a vacuum hand pump and filter bottle.

 

Filtration during sampling

Filtration during sampling can be carried out by joining an in-line filter to the sample pump discharge line. This can then be run into a sample bottle for storage and transport.

The WAT45 High-Capacity Groundwater Sampling Filter offers 600 cm2 of effective 0.45 micron filtration area. This reduces the need for multiple filter changes with large or very silty groundwater samples.

Bladders

The genuine QED bladders for the Sample Pro pump are designed for optimum efficiency and are batch tested to give you confidence in your sample integrity.

 

The QED38360 bladder kit contains 10 disposable quick-change bladders.

 


12 V pumps

Simplify your field sampling with the Proactive Environmental 12 V Groundwater Pumps, designed for 50 mm bores. Connect to a 12 V power source such as the battery of a running car, and you are ready to purge and sample your groundwater wells.
