Whether it’s for testing food, pharmaceuticals, soil or stormwater, taking samples is key to various industrial and public health safety workflows.

The challenge with samples is that once collected, they need to remain sterile and uncompromised on their way to processing. Additionally, they often need to be stored safely, which can be an issue when there’s hundreds of sample bottles in stow.

The Whirl-Pak™ sterilised sample bags address challenges around sample protection by safeguarding samples from the point of collection, through transit, processing and storage. The bags take their name from the unique leak-proof closure which allows the user to ‘whirl’ their sample and keep it sealed in the same way as a plastic container.

The Whirl-Pak sample bags are not only leak-proof but have puncture-proof closure tabs and are made with high strength plastic film. Importantly, one single bag can be used in every step of the process, reducing the risk of sample damage or loss.

In comparison to other sample containers the Whirl-Pak require little storage space. For example, 500 Whirl-Pak bags take up only a fraction of the space that 500 sample bottles would in a lab or specialised storage unit. The bags can also be frozen to liquid nitrogen temperatures as low as -210°C.

• Puncture-proof closure tabs: The tape extends beyond the wire to eliminate sharp points that could puncture and compromise the sample bag. This also enables the users to keep a sturdy grip while the wire tabs keep the bag open for easy access.
• High strength film: Uses blended, virgin polyethylene film that’s exceptionally clear and strong.
• Convenient write-on label strip: Ballpoint pens or pencils can be used to write on the strip for clear labelling and easy sample identification.
• Continuous perimeter seal: Amplifies protection against leaks.
