Intelligent analysis, eight samples at a time

The compact Thermo Scientific NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer measures eight samples at a time in less than 20 seconds. It is an ideal choice for pharma/biotech and academic researchers needing a higher throughput capacity for measuring nucleic acid and protein samples. NanoDrop Eight software identifies sample contaminants and reports true sample concentration with built-in Acclaro Sample Intelligence Technology.

NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer features

The NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer shares common features with our flagship NanoDrop One/OneC Microvolume UV-Vis Spectrophotometer:

Advanced sample intelligence

By analyzing absorbance across the full spectrum, Acclaro software can identify contaminants and correct quantitation results.

Rapid time to results

Results appear within seconds of initiating a measurement, and Auto-Blank and Auto-Measure settings can further streamline your workflow.

Differentiates DNA from RNA

Acclaro software uses full-spectrum data to tease apart DNA from RNA and calculate corrected nucleic acid concentrations.

Your dependable lab partner

Since they were introduced in 2001, NanoDrop spectrophotometers have become indispensable in many labs, accumulating over 55,000 scientific citations.

In addition, the NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer offers indispensable features for labs with many samples to quantify, including regulated environments. To learn more, see the sections below.

High throughput

Quantitate eight samples in less than 20 seconds or a 96-well plate (eight samples at a time) in less than 6 minutes.

Ready to start

NanoDrop Eight operating software comes with many measurement applications including the most frequently used—dsDNA, RNA, Protein A280, and UV-Vis.

Optional security software for compliance

SciVault software integrates into the NanoDrop Eight user interface and aids compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 electronic recordkeeping regulations.

Ergonomic ambidextrous pipetting

Movable pipette guide allows both left- and right-handed users to quickly and comfortably dispense samples.

LIMS compatibility

Export data formats are easily captured by industry-leading Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) software.

Ergonomic ambidextrous pipetting

The NanoDrop Eight pedestal array is aligned perpendicular to the front of the instrument, creating a natural pipetting motion for users. The magnetic pipette guide is movable from side to side, allowing both left- and right-handed users to quickly and comfortably dispense samples.

SciVault software for NanoDrop spectrophotometers aids regulatory compliance

Optional SciVault software enables regulated labs to use the NanoDrop Eight Spectrophotometer to quantify biological molecules. The software offers a compliance package to help meet requirements for electronic records in the Title 21 CFR Part 11 regulation from the US Food and Drug Administration.

SciVault software integrates into the NanoDrop Eight software user interface and controls user account access, digital signatures, and audit logs. It can be installed on a central computer to control privileges and view audit logs across multiple NanoDrop Eight instruments in different labs.

Installation qualification and operational qualification (IQ/OQ) documents and services are also available to confirm that your instrument is running within the manufacturer’s specifications.

Optional SciVault software manages electronic recordkeeping in regulated labs. (top left) The software captures all data creation and modification events, allows users to view audit logs, and create and sign reports. (bottom right) Administrators can assign appropriate privileges for user groups and individual users.

Laboratory Information Management Systems compatibility

Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) are an increasingly popular way to manage data generated by multiple instruments across different platforms. NanoDrop Eight Software exports data in formats easily captured by industry-leading LIMS software including Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS Software  and LabWare LIMS®.

You have the flexibility to include absorbance data, report data, or both in your data files, and to output them in universal data formats such as comma- (.csv) or or tab-separated values (.tsv). You can also set up a data directory to be automatically exported, and then have your LIMS software sweep the folder to extract NanoDrop Eight instrument data for archiving.

A worthy upgrade for the NanoDrop 8000 Spectrophotometer

The NanoDrop Eight instrument replaced the NanoDrop 8000 Spectrophotometer in the Thermo Scientific UV-Vis product line as of September 2021. As the table shows, the new instrument features advanced software that adds intelligent analysis to the quantification and assessment of DNA, RNA, proteins, and more in your lab, eight samples at a time.
