A viable bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cell incubated with the ratiometric mitochondrial potential indicator, JC-9 (D22421). In live cells, JC-9 exists either as a green-fluorescent monomer at depolarized membrane potentials, or as a red-fluorescent J-aggregate at hyperpolarized membrane potentials.
