Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous, colorless, odorless gas. Workers may be exposed to harmful levels of CO in a variety of industrial environments employing gasoline-powered equipment or where other carbon-containing materials such as natural gas, kerosene, oil, propane, coal, or wood are burned. These include boiler rooms, breweries, warehouses, petroleum refineries, pulp and paper production, and steel production. Internal combustion engines are one of the most common sources of exposure in the workplace; forges, blast furnaces and coke ovens also produce CO.
Overexposure to CO can result in serious health consequences including headaches, dizziness, nausea, weakness, increased heart rate, heart damage, and even death. Because of these health hazards, OSHA has set CO exposure limits for many industrial work environments. Thermo Scientific™ carbon monoxide detectors can help you meet OSHA and other international requirements for carbon monoxide monitoring with reliable, easy to use instruments that ensure the highest air quality standards.
The Model 48i CO Analyzer measures CO concentration using Gas Filter Correlation (GFC). The 48i uses an exact calibration curve to accurately linearize the instrument output over any range up to a concentration of 10,000ppm.
Measure trace levels of carbon monoxide (CO) in ambient air with Model 48i Series Analyzers. The enhanced sample conditioned temperature stabilization and auto-zeroing of the Model 48-TLE result in a low detection limit for the measurement of carbon monoxide.
