Beverage Applications Notebook: Milk

Trace levels of iodide are necessary for normal physical and mental development; however, excess iodide can lead to thyroid disorders. Within the dairy industry, iodophors are used as disinfectants, which can also lead to increased iodide consumption by the public.

Determination of Choline in Infant Formula and Other Food Samples by Ion Chromatography

Choline is a water-soluble micronutrient vital to cell membrane integrity, support of methyl group metabolism, and nervous system activity. It plays an important role during the perinatal period. In recognition of its nutritional importance, choline is a required additive in many infant formulas.
