Native mass spectrometry (Native MS) enables the study of intact protein, non-covalent protein-protein and protein-ligand complexes in their biological state. For protein complexes, high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) measurements are taken confirm the presence of the complexes and additional information such as stochiometry of the individual subunits and dissociation constants can be determined. For single protein, native MS can also be used to examine expected pattern and degree of posttranslational modifications (PTMs). It can provide relative abundance of these modifications such as the various glycoforms that are present at a particular site.
Learn about the Thermo ScientificOptiMSe workflow. A fast, automated, and intuitive way to to eliminate unpromising samples for vitrification and cryo-EM.
Learn how to optimize protein overexpression with an online buffer exchange (OBE) for nMS applications, how the experiment is implemented, and how it can be extended by coupling to affinity separation (e.g., IMAC-OBE).
The Thermo Scientific Direct Mass Technology mode redefines mass spectrometry by equipping Thermo Scientific Q Exactive UHMR Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap mass spectrometers with charge detection. Learn how this technology provides direct, accurate mass determination, enabling you to decipher protein complexes, biotherapeutics, and viral particles that are too complex to resolve using ensemble methods.
