Applied Biosystems Thermal Cycler Discontinuations

The GeneAmp PCR System 9700, the Applied Biosystems 2720 Thermal Cycler, Veriti Thermal Cycler and Veriti Dx thermal cycler have been discontinued. These products are no longer available for sale. Comprehensive service will remain available for both instruments for five years following the discontinuation dates specified in the table below. Replacement instruments can be run in simulation mode for seamless transition of existing protocols.

* The ProFlex PCR System can be run in 9700 mode and the MiniAmp Thermal Cycler can be run in 2720 mode for seamless transition of existing protocols.

†The VeritiPro Dx Thermal Cycler is available for in vitro diagnostic use in the United States of America and Europe and other selected countries only. The customer is responsible for any validation of assays, reagents, and consumables, and compliance with any regulatory requirements that pertain to their procedures and instrument use.

Service options

Providing outstanding service and support for your Applied Biosystems instruments is important to us. Thermo Fisher Scientific will continue to provide standard comprehensive service plans for current customers and spare parts as needed for these instruments through the dates noted above. If a written and valid contract is in place regarding the support of your instrument for a longer period, the details of the contract will be honored. Please note, however, that continued development in instrument component technology means that over time we may be forced to limit the services we can offer.

After careful consideration, Life Technologies has decided to discontinue sale of the GeneAmp^® PCR System 9700 as of December 31, 2015. After this date, these products will no longer be available for sale. A list of affected part numbers can be found below.

At Life Technologies we know that service and support of our products is important to you. We plan to continue to offer our standard comprehensive service plans and spare parts for the GeneAmp^® PCR System 9700 through December 31^st 2020. If we have a written contract in place with you by which we have committed to support your GeneAmp® PCR System 9700 for a longer period, we will honor that contractually agreed period. Please note, however, that continued development in instrument component technology means that over time we may be forced to limit the services we can offer.
