Benchtop centrifuge features

Benchtop centrifuges are a perfect fit for labs with limited space and a variety of applications. Simple to operate and ergonomically designed, these centrifuges bring efficiency to the lab. For example, most benchtop centrifuges accommodate the Auto-Lock™ system to quickly exchange rotors with one hand for application versatility and maximum throughput. Benchtop centrifuges are manufactured with quality materials for strength and durability, along with broad chemical resistance, for the uptime and consistent performance you expect from these workhorses of the lab

Advantages for safety

Benchtop centrifuges are engineered for operating safety. For example, the design minimizes potential pinch points when opening and closing the lid, and a motorized lid latch provides extra protection. A hand grip cue on the lid indicates the easiest location for one-handed closure. The chamber features an improved reach-in design for safer rotor and container loading and unloading.

Control with a touch

The latest touchscreen interface on Pro series centrifuges makes programming easier than ever from a menu bar and simple buttons. An enlarged time tracker and visual and audible end-of-run alerts let you conveniently monitor runs, even from across the lab. Pre-programmed compressor startup has the centrifuge ready to run once you arrive, and shutdown extends compressor life and reduces energy costs.

Unmatched rotor selection

A full line of swinging bucket and fixed angle rotors is available for benchtop centrifuges. Many rotors are constructed from innovative, lightweight materials that resist corrosion and fatigue and are compatible with ClickSeal™ biocontainment lids

Mini centrifuges: flexible and efficient

Our mySPIN mini centrifuges, the smallest benchtop platform, are available in two speeds, 6,300 and 12,500 rpm. They are suitable for a range of applications, from microfilter cell separation and HPLC protocols to PCR as well as clinical and diagnostic applications. These centrifuges operate quietly with low vibration. Their tiny footprint makes such efficient use of space that they are ideal for a personal workstation.

Includes two rotors that accommodate 0.2, 1.5, and 2.0 mL microtubes and PCR strips. Exchange rotors quickly, without tools.

Microcentrifuges: small samples, fast processing

Thermo Scientific microcentrifuges perform a variety of microvolume protocols with fast acceleration and deceleration. These centrifuges offer many options, including a choice of two performance levels, ventilated or refrigerated models, and optional rotors to fit your application. Find the ideal blend of capabilities to support basic microtube processing, nucleic acid mini-preps, spin-columns, and hematocrit tests.

Small samples, fast processing

The 21,100 x g microcentrifuge models are ideal for high-end research applications that demand the fastest runs, and the 17,000 x g models are excellent for routine lab work. All microcentrifuges feature intuitive controls, easy-to-read displays, and one-click lid closure.

Two standard rotors

Two standard rotors, made of lightweight engineered polymer to resist corrosion, are included with microcentrifuges and accept 1.5, 2, and 5 mL microtubes. Other polymer rotors support 0.2 and 0.5 mL microtubes, PCR strip tubes, and hematocrit capillary tubes. Some rotors accommodate ClickSeal™ biocontainment lids for added sample security.

Compact benchtops: high RCFs, small size

This small benchtop platform is designed for portability and can seamlessly move from application to application and lab to lab. This portability, combined with a choice of ventilated and refrigerated models and a wide selection of rotors with high RCFs, provides flexibility to meet evolving requirements. Microvolume rotors process microliter tubes at up to 30,279 g to support cell culture, molecular biology, and clinical diagnostic applications. These models can run at noise levels as low as 52 dBA for a minimally disruptive lab environment.

High RCFs, small size

With dimensions as small as 12.2 x 14.6 x 18.9 in. (31 x 37 x 48 cm), our compact benchtop centrifuges can fit into especially tight lab spaces. Consider a floor model configuration, which is adjustable in height, to eliminate the need for benchtop space entirely for maximum flexibility and portability.

Bright, large display

The bright, large display on compact benchtop centrifuges is easy to read, even across the lab. The control panel displays instructions on programming, run conditions, alerts, and service messages.

General purpose benchtops: quality and repeatability

These centrifuges live up to their name as our most versatile benchtop platform. Their mid-performance drives are designed for applications demanding consistency, repeatability, and high throughput run after run, such as basic research and clinical applications with repetitive protocols. Ergonomic design and ease of use make them a robust, reliable solution for labs with multiple users. Choose either the 1.6 L or 4 L capacity configuration, available in ventilated and refrigerated models to match your needs.

Exceptionally versatile for multi-user settings

1.6 L capacity models support up to 14 optional swinging bucket and fixed angle rotors. For maximum capacity in 4 L models, the spacious TX-1000 rotor can run up to 196 blood tubes and forty 50 mL conical tubes.

The Auto-Lock™ system lets you easily switch between rotors safely in seconds, with one hand, for greater flexibility.

Bright, easy-to-use LCD control panel

Programs are directly accessible from six buttons. Simply scroll to enter speed, time, temperature, and acceleration and deceleration parameters. Select a pulse run or open the lid with a push of a button. The panel displays English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Russian languages.

High performance benchtops: highest speeds, most rotors

This platform is engineered for performance, incorporating powerful, energy-efficient drives and programming capabilities to meet demanding research applications or work in controlled environments such as clean rooms. Add flexibility with a wide range of rotors from fixed angle for 1.5 mL tubes to swinging bucket for large-capacity bottles, 1.6 L and 4 L capacity configurations, and a choice of refrigerated, ventilated, and floor models to best match your lab’s requirements.

Power for high performance

Achieve speeds to 15,200 rpm, resulting in RCFs up to 25,830. Perform multiple applications in the same centrifuge with a choice of up to 19 different rotors and a variety of adapter options.
