In New Zealand, in partnership with Merck, we offer the Milli-Q® Lab Water Solutions portfolio which offers a broad range of pure and ultrapure water purification systems and services.

 

This portfolio is designed for scientists working in pharmaceutical, clinical, academic, industrial, research, and government laboratories — in both validated and non-validated environments.

 

Whether you’re after Ultrapure (Type 1) or pure (Type 2, Type 3/RO) water; whether your feed water is from a tap or pre-treated water; whether you’re needing a benchtop polisher system or to supply lab water for your entire building, we have a solution for you.

 

Norms define different laboratory water grades for both technical and economical reasons. The purpose of these norms is to ensure that the right water quality is used for your applications, while limiting laboratory operating costs. Type 1 water has the highest purity but is also the most expensive to generate.

Laboratory water types

Type 3 

Type 3 water is the lowest laboratory water grade, recommended for glassware rinsing, heating baths and filling autoclaves, or to feed Type 1 lab water systems.

Type 2

Type 2 laboratory-grade water is used in general laboratory applications such as buffers, pH solutions and microbiological culture media preparation; as feed to Type 1 water systems, clinical analysers, cell culture incubators and weathering test chambers; and for preparation of reagents for chemical analysis or synthesis.     

Type 1  

Type 1 laboratory grade water is required for critical laboratory applications such as HPLC, GC, HPLC, AA, ICP-MS and other advanced analytical techniques; preparation of buffers and culture media for cell culture; production of reagents for molecular biology applications (DNA sequencing, PCR); and preparation of solutions for electrophoresis and blotting.

A pre-filtration setup before the system is recommended with potable feedwater source. Will always need a tank/reservoir to store the product water.

From tap to Ultrapure/Type 1 water

Milli-Q™ IQ 70XX series produces Type II and Type I product water.
