Direct amplification empowers efficiency

microFLOQ Swabs are an innovative DNA collection tool co-developed by French Gendarmerie Forensic Research Institute (IRCGN) and COPAN; they enable direct PCR amplification, skipping the DNA extraction step. This is possible thanks to the lysing treatment applied on the fibers, which breaks the cells upon contact.

Direct amplification of a sample on a microFLOQ swab consumes a tiny portion of the specimen, preserving valuable evidence for re-analysis or additional testing. Subsampling can be performed first on all stains with no additional testing needed if the results are acceptable. If the first results are inconclusive, then the entire sample can be used with traditional methods.

Features

  • No extraction step needed; all the DNA collected can be directly amplified
  • Patented technology for higher sample collection and release
  • Lysing treatment applied on the fibers for direct DNA amplification
  • Designed specifically for maximizing amplifiable DNA
  • Desiccant in the cap for efficient sample drying
  • Peel-off barcode label for chain of custody
  • Breaking point makes these swabs easy to process with standard 96-well PCR microplates
  • Produced in compliance with ISO 18385:2016(E)

Applications

Crime scene

For evidence collection, microFLOQ Swabs help minimize alterations that prevent further forensic investigations, like fingerprint and bloodstain pattern analysis.

Disaster victim identification (DVI)

microFLOQ Swabs combined with innovative mobile DNA laboratory patented by IRCGN are ideal for quick identification of body parts from mass disaster sites.
