The plastic and glass surfaces of pipette tips and tubes including PCR tubes, microcentrifuge tubes, and conical tubes, are an easily overlooked source of ribonuclease (RNase) contamination. Thermo Fisher offers a range of RNase-free plastics including pipette tips, PCR tubes, microcentrifuge tubes, and conical tubes. Each lot of Invitrogen brand tips and tubes undergoes rigorous testing to ensure that they are nuclease-free (RNase- and DNase-free).
RNase-free, nuclease-free lab supplies are essential in lab spaces where researchers work with RNA. Common lab supplies such as pipette tips, PCR tubes, microcentrifuge tubes, and conical tubes are offered in an RNase-free format.
For safe transfer of samples and reagents, RNase-free pipette tips come in two different formats: without a barrier/filter and with a barrier/filter (also known as barrier tips or filter tips). Both formats have the following features:
RNase-free PCR tubes are available in different varieties. RNase-free PCR tubes offer thinner walls to allow for better sample temperature regulation, as well as frosted surfaces for easy labeling. Other options include domed or flat caps, as well as 0.2 mL and 0.5 mL formats. Thermo Fisher RNase-free PCR tubes have the following features:
RNase-free microcentrifuge tubes are available in three different sizes (0.5 mL, 1.5 mL, and 2.0 mL) and have marked gradations for convenience. Our microcentrifuge tubes are lot tested for contaminants, such as nucleases including RNases and DNases. All our RNase-free microcentrifuge tubes have the following features:
RNase-free conical tubes are available in two different sizes (15 mL and 50 mL) and have printed writing space and volume marks for convenience. Our RNase-free conical tubes have the following features:
