Benefits of GeneRuler DNA Ladders

Benefit #1: Quality and purity of GeneRuler DNA Ladders

The chromatography-purified DNA fragments in GeneRuler ladders produce high quality reference bands. In routine gel electrophoresis, GeneRuler DNA ladders produce clean, crisp bands in the gel with recognizable patterns (Figure 1).

In capillary electrophoresis, GeneRuler DNA ladders produces sharp peaks (Figure 2). The mass of the DNA fragments in GeneRuler ladders are verified spectrophotometrically; this allows for the estimation of the mass of sample DNA with greater accuracy.

Figure 1. A comparison of reference bands produced by GeneRuler DNA ladder and other commercially available DNA ladders. GeneRuler DNA ladders produce clean and crisp reference bands, with an easy-to-remember pattern. The volume of DNA ladders added to each lane was in accordance with manufacturer recommendation (A) Lane 1: GeneRuler 1 kb DNA Ladder, ready-to-use; lane 2: GeneRuler 1 kb Plus DNA Ladder, ready-to-use; lane 3: Sigma-Aldrich DirectLoad™ Wide Range DNA Marker; lane 4: NEB Quick-Load™ 2-Log DNA Ladder (0.1–10.0 kb); lane 5: NEB Quick-Load™ 1 kb DNA Ladder. (B) Lane 1: GeneRuler 100 bp DNA Ladder, ready-to-use; lane 2: GeneRuler 100 bp Plus DNA Ladder, ready-to-use; lane 3: Sigma-Aldrich DirectLoad™ PCR 100 bp Low Ladder; lane 4: NEB Quick-Load™ Purple 100 bp DNA Ladder.

Benefit #2: Easy tracking of DNA migration with TriTrack Dye premixed in GeneRuler DNA Ladders

The TriTrack DNA Loading Buffer, 6X contains three dyes (bromophenol blue, xylene cyanol FF, and orange G) for visual tracking of DNA migration during electrophoresis. These dyes do not interfere with visualization.

Ready-to-use DNA ladders premixed with the TriTrack Loading Buffer are stable at room temperature up to six months.

Benefit #3: Go green with GeneRuler DNA Ladders

Decorative art for earth-friendly products

GeneRuler DNA ladders are earth-friendly products. Organic solvents are not used in production of Thermo Scientific DNA ladders, which helps reduce environmental waste from manufacturing processes. Furthermore, GeneRuler ladders are  stable at ambient temperature and shipped in non-insulated shipping boxes, which generate less waste compared to insulated boxes.

GeneRuler family of DNA ladders

GeneRuler DNA ladders can be ideal for DNA sizing and approximate quantification of a wide range of double-stranded DNA fragments ranging between 10 bp and 48.5 kb.

GeneRuler DNA Ladder selection guide

GeneRuler DNA Ladders are routinely used in the molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, PCR, and reverse transcription. Choose the DNA ladder that best fits your needs.
