Xylene (xylol), C6H4(CH3)2, is an aromatic hydrocarbon with two methyl substituents resulting in three structural isomers, ortho-xylene, meta-xylene and para-xylene. Commercial xylene is also called xylenes to reflect that it is a mixture of isomers. It also contains a small amount ethylbenzene as an impurity, up to 25%.

The 1H NMR spectrum of xylene was measured at 45 MHz using the Thermo Scientific picoSpin 45 NMR spectrometer.
