Nalgene carboys and their caps and spigots are custom engineered to work together to provide our 100% leak-proof guarantee.* Because they are designed with custom threads and sealing surfaces, Nalgene carboys will only perform correctly when equipped with the corresponding authentic Nalgene parts. We know caps get lost or "modified" for a special uses, or parts wear out. We offer Nalgene replacement closures, gaskets and spigots to keep your Nalgene carboy going strong for the long haul.

What is the drawback to making Nalgene carboys super rugged? They sometimes outlast their spigot. Extend the lifetime of your carboy by replacing the spigot if it starts to drip.

Replacement gaskets for Nalgene carboy caps

Most Nalgene caps provide a leak-proof seal without a gasket. For added leak protection on some of our larger carboys with buttress-style caps, we use a silicone gasket to provide the ultimate seal. Gasket worn out or gone missing? Replacements are available here.

*The term “leakproof” applies to Thermo Scientific Nalgene products that meet the following criteria: a) Bottle/flask/funnel closure systems with closures smaller than 100mm, after they are filled with water, inverted, withstand air pressure of 2psig for 2 minutes, and no water escapes;. b) Bottle/funnel/flask closure systems of larger than 100mm after they are filled with water, inverted for 15 minutes, and no water escapes. Note: these tests, using other liquids, may not yield the same results. To ensure safe usage, customers are advised to test Thermo Scientific Nalgene bottles and closures under conditions of their planned applications. Thermo Scientific Nalgene products are leakproof at ambient temperature and pressure when used with their Nalgene closures.
