Fast, reliable elemental analysis—in the lab and field
We offer a wide range of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) instruments designed to meet the needs of every industry. Our robust family of Thermo Scientific ARL XRF spectrometers provides fast, repeatable elemental analysis measurements with little to no sample preparation. The Thermo Scientific ARL QUANT’X EDXRF Spectrometer is a benchtop instrument that enables users to get compositional data on virtually any sample in minutes. Meanwhile, our line of ARL WDXRF Spectrometers can perform in simultaneous and/or sequential mode while providing the outstanding sensitivity and high resolution needed for the most demanding applications.
Our WDXRF instruments can be automated to work without operator intervention and are integrated with software that provides rapid, high-quality sample analysis. We also offer handheld XRF analyzers for applications that require immediate feedback—such as identifying materials in the field or on the shop floor.
XRF is a routine solution for chemical analysis of metals, minerals, and other materials—and ARL XRF spectrometers rise to the challenge by delivering qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis for most elements of the periodic table at concentration levels from sub parts-per-million (ppm) to 100%. This easy-to-use, non-destructive technique requires little to no sample preparation, making it the go-to method for process control in today’s industrial and academic labs.
With energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) analysis, the X-ray fluorescence energy spectrum of whole groups of elements is processed simultaneously using an energy dispersive detector. EDXRF can be used for both qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis. Our EDXRF spectrometers come in portable and compact laboratory-based formats and can accommodate samples of almost any shape and size.
With wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) analysis, the X-ray fluorescence signal from a sample is separated into individual wavelengths using crystals and a series of optical components. Our WDXRF spectrometers can perform in simultaneous mode, using a series of fixed channels, or in sequential mode, using a goniometer measuring the signals of different wavelengths. The spectral overlaps and background are minimized in WDXRF, facilitating the analysis of complex samples and improving limits of detection.
