SQUAD Analysis: Maximizing Metabolomics Information Obtained by Mass Spectrometry

On-Demand Webinar

Single injection simultaneous quantitation and discovery (SQUAD) metabolomics workflow provides confident identification and accurate quantitation of preselected metabolites, without compromising the untargeted analysis. When available, analyzing authentic standards of target compounds, provides absolute quantitation, standardizing response across instrument platforms and laboratories providing additional quality control and assurance to the study. The simultaneous acquisition of HRAM full scan data, future proofs the discovery of metabolites through data retro mining as new targets of interest are discovered. With SQUAD we highlight key hardware and software innovations designed to address these study bottlenecks. The unique fragmentation capabilities available on the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap IQ-X Tribrid MS, such as UVPD, HCD and CID, are used to distinguish metabolites of interest and provide unique annotations in both positive and negative ionization mode.

Join us for this webinar to learn:

  • How SQUAD analysis enhances our understanding of molecular relationships within biological systems
  • The advantages SQUAD workflow can provide for metabolomics researchers
  • How to perform SQUAD workflow on their Orbitrap mass spectrometers
  • How to use SQUAD workflow for biological samples

About the presenters

Elys Rodriguez, Senior Scientist, Merck

Elys Rodriguez is a Sr Scientist at Merck performing quantitative and qualitative analysis for the identification of drug metabolites. She utilized SQUAD technology to identify and quantify potential biomarkers associated with chronic pain in patients who underwent knee replacement surgery.

Bashar Amer, Marketing Manager, Thermo Fisher Scientific

Bashar Amer is a metabolomics scientist at Thermo Fisher Scientific. He has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry-Metabolomics from Aarhus Univ in Denmark. Bashar and team introduced the new metabolomics workflow SQUAD.
