Adherent 3T3 fibroblasts labeled with 3000 MW Texas Red dextran (D3329) and 70,000 MW Calcium Green-1 dextran (C3714). Both dextrans were loaded into the fibroblasts using the Influx pinocytic cell-loading reagent (I14402). The images were acquired using a fluorescence microscope equipped with a cooled CCD camera and bandpass filter sets appropriate for either the Texas Red dye (left image) or fluorescein (right image). The center image represents a composite of the cells labeled with both dextrans. The 3000 MW Texas Red dextran is distributed throughout the cell, but the 70,000 MW Calcium Green-1 dextran is excluded from the nucleus by the nuclear membrane.
