Once the DNA fragment is cloned into a vector, you will need to characterize and validate each clone. Now that you have your clone in bacteria, you will need to recover the DNA from the cells. The following pages provide brief overviews of the products available for procedures downstream of the cloning reactions.
- Transform E. coli with your clone. This allows you to generate sufficient material for any downstream procedures, whether they are QC checks or higher-level experiments.
- Purify your DNA. Now that you have your clone in bacteria, you will need to recover the DNA from the cells.
- Analyze your results. With gel electrophoresis and restriction enzyme techniques, you can now confirm that you have generated the correct clone.
