We support critical research and development in neurobiology by offering an extensive range of Gibco and Invitrogen recombinant proteins including key neurotrophic factors, growth factors, and cytokines.
Neurotrophins play critical roles in supporting neuronal survival, differentiation, and maintenance. No matter what type of neuronal cell types you are working with, Thermo Fisher Scientific has an array of recombinant neurotrophins to support your cell culture needs including BDNF, NGF, NT-3, and NT-4.
Human EGF and FGF-basic recombinant proteins support neural stem cell maintenance. Find protocols for neural stem cell culture and differentiation using these critical growth factors here.
Figure 1. Gibco human episomal iPSCs (Cat. No. A18945) were differentiated into retinal ganglion cells by the activation of Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF) signaling using IGF1R recombinant human protein (Cat. No. PR4654A), together with inhibition of Wnt signaling and Bone Morphogenetic Protein signaling using human Dkk-1 recombinant protein (Cat. No. PHC9211) and human Noggin recombinant protein (Cat. No. PHC1506) along with human FGF-basic recombinant protein (Cat. No. PHG0024). The cells were labeled with Optineurin rabbit monoclonal antibody (22H12L20) (Cat. No. 702766) and beta-3 tubulin polyclonal antibody (Cat. No. PA5-85639). The panels a & b represent the merged images of Optineurin (green) with DAPI (blue) staining for iPSC control cells and retinal ganglion cells. Panels c and d represent the merged images of beta-3 tubulin (green) with DAPI (blue) and F-actin (red) staining for iPSC control cells and retinal ganglion cells. The images were captured at 60X magnification.
Figure 2. Gibco human episomal iPSCs (Cat. No. A18945) were differentiated into Schwann cell progenitors through the intermediate neural rosette stage by using a combination of TGF-beta inhibitor and GSK-3 inhibitor followed by the additional treatment with neuregulin-1. The components of the differentiation media include N2 supplement (100X) (Cat. No. 17502-048) and B-27 supplement (50X) (Cat. No. 17504-44). Human PDGF-BB recombinant protein (Cat. No. PHG0041) helps to regulate early Schwann cell development. The panels a & b represent the merged images Nestin monoclonal antibody 10C2 (green) (Cat. No. MA1-110) with DAPI (blue) and F-actin (red) staining for iPSC control cells and neural rosettes. Panels c and d represent the merged images of SOX10 recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody (5H7L26) (green) (Cat. No. 703439) with DAPI (blue) and F-actin (red) staining for iPSC control cells and Schwann cell progenitor cells. The images were captured at 60X magnification.
