The modern forensics laboratory is undergoing a technological revolution. This revolution is driving lab instruments to become increasingly efficient, reliable, interactive, and economical. With the HID NIMBUS QNA System and HID NIMBUS Presto QNA System, you can carry out more steps in the casework workflow. The optimized scripting and automated quantification setup can prepare samples for quantification on the same instrument used for purification, normalization, and amplification plate setup. The HID NIMBUS QNA systems are optimized and validated for use with the Quantifiler Trio Automated DNA Quantification Kit on either the QuantStudio 5 or 7500 real-time PCR systems.
The HID NIMBUS system software for quantification offers the same options as for purification plus the user may engage a 5- or 6-point or virtual standard curve, design their own output plate map, select from a library of provided plate maps, or save their own plate map to the system. The HID NIMBUS QNA systems’ automated quantification setup features can help save time and resources, allowing analysts more time to work on other tasks such as analysis or reporting.
The Quantifiler Trio kits are specially designed to quantify the total amount of amplifiable human DNA in a sample and include all the necessary reagents for detection, amplification, and quantification of three human-specific DNA targets, including improved male Y target to facilitate more sensitive male:female ratio detection and improved results in sexual assault casework.
The kits enable forensic laboratories to simultaneously obtain a quantitative and qualitative assessment of total human DNA in a single, highly sensitive real-time PCR reaction. This guides selection of the optimal short tandem repeat (STR) analysis chemistry (autosomal or miniSTR) and streamlines the workflow while increasing downstream analysis success rates.
When used in conjunction with the QuantStudio 5 Real-Time PCR System and HID Real-Time PCR Analysis Software, the Quantifiler Trio kits help redefine the casework sample-processing workflow. Quality functionality enables a more comprehensive view of sample quality (both degradation and inhibition), while increased sensitivity and robustness correlate with more recently released Applied Biosystems STR chemistries. This enables you to screen samples and make critical workflow decisions (for example, autosomal vs. Y-STR kits for capillary electrophoresis (CE) or CE vs. NGS technology) with greater confidence.
The quantity and quality indicators that these kits incorporate help deliver accurate, sensitive, and specific results that work together with the software to enable informative, integrated workflow decisions.
