From time to time Thermo Fisher Scientific releases firmware upgrades for our gas analyzers. For the iQ series analyzers, this firmware upgrade can be accomplished in a couple of different ways.

Option one

Download the firmware upgrade file from our website to a USB drive then insert it into the USB port on the front of your iQ analyzer. Firmware upgrade files can be found on our Enviromental and Process Monitoring Services page, for your specific model of instrument, under Firmware / Software.

Using the USB method is the most simple and intuitive. With the firmware downloaded to the USB drive, insert it into the USB port on your analyzer and follow the self-guided instructions. Do not remove it until the analyzer reboots as part of the upgrade process.

Note: Do not change the name of the file in any way as the iQ series unit will not recognize it if changed.

Option two

Use Thermo Scientific ePort software to communicate with your instrument and download the latest firmware upgrade file.


Available: ePort Software

The latest version of our ePort software (v4.0.5) for remote communication to your instrument can be found on our Enviromental and Process Monitoring Services page, for your specific model of instrument, under Firmware / Software.

If your instrument has Version 11 firmware installed (V1.6.11.xxxxx), ePort software must be used to upgrade the firmware. To check the version of firmware installed of your iQ series instrument, go to Settings (accessible via the Home Screen) → Health Check. The installed firmware version will be displayed.

ePort Software Security Improvements

New security improvements were released for firmware versions V8 (V1.6.8.xxxxx) and higher. To connect with the ePort software remotely, a security password must now be entered. Please review the Technical Bulletin, iQ Series Instrument Security Improvements, describing the password procedure.
